We can we finally say we visited Sarushima Island (means Monkey Island in English). Funny enough we came home with the same amount of monkeys we went with. We started the day off by meeting up with a few friends and wandering down towards Mikasa Park. As always, I told the kid
s to find a special leaf for "leaf races". We race leaves down a nicely landscaped stream/waterfall/pond thing. Once they left the hand we follow along besides them for about 50 feet until the end of the stream. The first portion is about Bear's chest height which leads to a waterfall and then the water travels like a stream. Bear was keeping a watchful eye on his leaf...in fact such a watchful eye he walked, OK, fell into the pond. Yes the boy fell in about 18 inches of water fully clothed! His Nana would be proud, he didn't mess up his hair. The Picture to the left is me ringing out his shirt before I had to jog ho
me for a change of clothes and shoes. Once he was dry and I got my unexpected workout we waited in line for a ferry to take us to the Island. Of course while waiting we HAD to do one of those dorky Japanese bunny finger poses (pic to the left). Bear has been on Dadd
y's boat many times but this was the first time a boat pushed off while he was on it. Max was standing up holding him because I sure don't have sea legs, and Bear put his head down...poor baby was feeling so sick his hair was standing up, as you could see. Once we got on the island and hiked around we saw some of God's interesting creatures. A bunch of Japanese people were standing around on a stairway staring at something. As we passed Max said it was just a little lizard. One of the Japanese guys corrected him and said "leesarrdooo". Whoops. Now Max is learning Jinglish. Max taught his son to put the little crabs in his pocket. Thanks Babe! Now I get to fish out crabs from the washer (no pun intended). An old local fisherman let the kids touch the fish he caught. And another foreigner came by to deliver hermit crabs to a little water hole. Yet another hour of entertainment for the kids....and just as long explaining to Kalee why we didn't see monkeys on Monkey Island.

Awwww...poor bear, it must have been a shock to him when he fell in the water. But hey...keeping the hair dry is pretty cool for a boy! You know I hate my hair and face wet...don't like my makeup to run, or my hair to go flat.
Really like the pic's. I must say, if you loose too much more weight, Bear will have to carry you. LOL You look great Ave! I see the results of you running...cool beans!
I am happy for ya'll...getting family time together...making memories...even if there weren't any monkeys! :)
And that is my 2 cents for the day...
