Last nights festivities had to of been interesting....Max came home today with no voice. Humm, too much cadence when they PT's. Yeah right! I'd hate to be the boot that would have him as a RDC. There are lots of happy people today. Pretty much the whole battle group pulled in. This base is congested to say the least. ICK! Fortunately it will give us the opportunity to get together with some of our friends before we part. There has been a couple that has followed us around like a nasty fart. We were neighbors in Coronado, Negishi and now here on main base Yokosuka. Our kids girls grew up together. Started with spitting up competitions, then biting, hair pulling, toy fighting, and now emotion playing. Wow much has happened in 5 years! This is also the family that has been to all 5 (next including next months party) of Kalee's Birthdays. Not even family can say that. We sure are gonna miss em'!
I made and appointment with EDIS (early development intervention services) to have Max screened. No, not big Max. Although I don't think it would be a bad idea to have him screened I think it might be a little to late. You know the saying "Can't to teach an old dog new tricks"? He runs the kids around the house, begs for dinner, and sits on me so I can hear his butt-talk just fine (No, I didn't teach him that one). Anyway, I just wanted my little guy evaluated speech wise. They did the whole sha-bang. She said he should have about a 50 word vocabulary and signs include a word. During the evaluation he only signed 9 words but spoke 77. I should write a days worth of words down...out of curiosity. The results for his development came out great across the board. She said it was really nice to see above average kids and Kalee was definitely at a 5 year old level....I had to inform her she wouldn't be 5 til December! YAY! Not that I didn't know my girl was a genius anyway...
In conversation she asked if Kalee was in school. Enthusiastically Kalee responded "I'm in Home School". I must say that was the very first time we received a major BZ (Bravo Zulu) for making that decision...and the screening took place at a DOD (Department Of Defence) school by a health care professional. Funny enough she was home schooled herself and used the same Christian based curriculum (A Beka) as we are.
The moral of today's post....I always knew my kids were not only the cutest kids on Earth but the smartest too! Would "Mom's always right" be appropriate?
