Little Miss Kalee

This year the children's Christmas party at Church was a progressive dinner. Those that know us, know we are VERY weary of leaving our children. Last night we had our Life Group Bible study and it worked out where we dropped her off and went to study and a few hours later picked her up. We reviewed manners, phone numbers and everything I assume any a parent would do when leaving children. In case your lost like I was a few weeks ago and have no clue what a progressive dinner is....they went to one house for and appetiser, another for supper and another for dessert. Yeah I have never heard of it. Then again I did not know what 'boss' drinks were until recently... in California we call them 2 liters!!! So when a friend and I went to pick the kids, I drilled her on the way back to bible study. Did you have fun? What did you eat? How did you feel? Were you ever uncomfortable? Who did you sit next to in the van? The entire way back to life group (and about 4 times since) I listened to a story like this:

Mom! It was soooo fun! First went to the Miram's (Kalee's friend whose Dad is our "preacher dude") house for the appetiser. We had these things with cheese in them and it was soooo delicious. I don't remember what they were called but we dipped them in pizza sauce and I love them. Can we get those sometime? Sure, after I ask Mrs. Lisa what they were. Then we went to Mrs. Angies for dinner. We ate salad with tomatoes...you know the little cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and that leaf stuff...oh and carrots and ranch dressing and pasta and bread...you know like the kind you love... Garlic bread? Yeah garlic bread, but they were sticks. We played some games.... What did you play? Oh, it was this cool game with toilet paper. We were allowed to waste it for the game. They told me I could. We had to decorate someone to look like a snowman...but couldn't cover their face, they had to breathe. Then we threw marshmallows... but Mrs Penny (her teacher) said we are doing that again in church tomorrow. Then we all got in the car again and went somewhere else. They had two doggies. The white and grey one was born blind and I felt so sad for him. the other one was really soft. We decorated cookies...I made a star and a gingerbread man with pink frosting....it was yummy. After we put our jackets on and went out to the stinky barn. They had 2 horses and we fed them apples. Mrs. Penny talked about Jesus. Jesus Mary and Joseph were probably cold Mom. They didn't have a heater. Not even a little one like we have because they had no plugs. Oh and Mr. Kirk (our preacher dude) said something about RubyTuesdays. Huh?

To clarify, I do serve dinners like that....sometimes. I promise. I have been on Bear about wasting toilet paper and am about to start buying 1-ply in hopes the toilet unclogging ceremonies will come to a halt. And I even got details about which cookie she ate first, how much sauce was on her pasta and how Mrs. Angies cell phone looks just like mine. The girl told all! YES! My little lady reported EVERYTHING!

At church today I talked to Lisa about what cheese thing she served because for the life of me I could not figure it out. Mozzarella sticks! Well Duh! She told me Kalee asked to only try one. After she ate it she loved it and said "May I please have another?" Lisa complimented and told her she was going to have to tell her Mom how good her manners were. Kalee replied "I know her phone number, you can call her."

Oh yeah and about RubyTuesdays? Yeah, they serve mozzarella sticks! LOL

I finally read this post and how funny!! Kalee is so funny!! Mozzerella sticks are very yummy!! She has good taste! lol. You have never heard of going to someone house for an apetizer and then going to someone else's house for dinner and then another persons house for dessert? I guess it must be a Virginian thing. lol

I'm happy you felt comfortable enough to let her go! It sounds like she had a really fun day! I love it when Kalee said she knew your phone number so the hostess could call you and tell you she had good manners! Too cute!

Max and I both were laughing hysterically when we herd she offered up my number to report the good manners. She knows our numbers, knows how to lock a door and knows what to do if she feels uncomfortable. We can't shelter her, just have to train her on how to react...and what is acceptable behavior and what is NOT. My little tell all....just how we like it.

I was reading this and laughing so hard because I could just picture her telling you all these things and just rambling on an on. She is too funny! I can tell you how to make Mozzarella sticks too, if you want. I make them and they come out really good. I still have to find the cookie recipe for you. I had the flu and was so sick that I didn't really get out of bed for 3 days. I just want you to know...I didn't forget! Hope all of you are doing well. Tell that hubby of yours hi for me. It's been forever since I have talked to him. Take care!

LOL! That is so funny. I can see her saying everything you wrote. See, I once had a little one very simular to her...with just a little sugar, she could talk your ear off.

As for the traveling dinner thingy...it is a lot of fun...very common with church families. :)
