We are in the good ol' US of A! We arrived in Kentucky last Saturday, slept, and went to Wal-Mart. WOW...those Kentuckians have their own language. I cant hardly understand them...eeks, only 5 days there and I'm speaking like them too...it's the only way to be understood. The buggies...I mean shopping carts, are larger then what I'm used to. You can fit 2 elephants walking side by side down every isle. Not that I tried, but that would be a great headline for CNN. I forgot how luxurious it was to shop without bumping into someone and saying "sumisan". Kalee wanted everything and Bear wanted to run. Now it's time to for the leash for that boy because the American culture is far different. As I was waiting for my flight out of Seattle I got a bit confused and responded to an agent "hi" (yes in Japanese) and felt stupid. Culture shock has not worn off yet. I am also shocked that I can READ the top toolbar line on the websites. I was kinda used to looking at that Kanji. I figured out how the man holding his hands up and watching TV means exit. Here e-x-i-t means exit. Funny how that works huh? Since we are on this sleep at 17:00 and rise at 01:00 schedule, Bear missed dinner regularly this past week. When he woke up, I nuked some leftover Goulash. First of all this "crunchy" hates microwaves. Too much research leans me one direction. Since I didn't want to wake up the whole house I opted for this method, ick. I get the heebie-jeebies thinking about it. I know I have mastered burning food on the stove but did you know I can burn food in the microwave too? Wow! Does that take Averi talent or what? Now if I can only get him on a better schedule. It's been nearly 3 years since I have driven stick and almost as long since I have driven on the right side of the road. I had a 600mile crash course and only used the windshield wipers as a turn signal about a dozen times. I met Max in Tennessee late Thursday and we stayed the night. By that time the kids were crashed out, so it was convenient to just get them in bed. When Kalee woke she said that the new house was too small, missing a kitchen and didn't have stairs. After laughing my butt off I told her that we were just there to sleep and shower and we still had 8 hours of driving to go. I felt so bad that I didn't have the heart to play on it like I could have.
Alas we arrived in Virginia last night. We are settled into a hotel and are trying to leap over the obstacles that have come our direction this past week. Moving is never easy and finding out tragic news while moving does not make it any easier....but we have faith!!!

You probably have one of the cleanest windshields on the East Coast by now! Watch out for those parking lots. I used to get confused coming out of them and forgeting what side of the street I was pulling out on. Hope all goes well with the move in. Take care all. You are all in our prayers.
Oh the culture shock. I guess it happens to us while we're here and we don't even realize it. Hmmm...something for me to ponder late at night. =P
A store that has large aisles!! There are somethings that I didn't realize I missed. But I'm so glad to hear the you've all made it safely. And I'm sorry that your trip to a new home was greeted with sad news. My condolences again go out to you all. Take care and God bless!!!
LOL!!! I love the Walmart comment!!! I can't even imagine how odd it must be to be back in the states after living in another country for such a long time.I hope you can get settled and find some kind of normal soon. :)
Poor Kalee...awakened to what she thought was her new house...how funny! I guess it wouldn't be so bad, but she can't wait to get in her new home where she and daddy can build birdhouses. As for cooking...maybe she should wait til Nana or I visit...lol.
I am still chuckling!
