Aquarium

Yesterday we had a fantastic family day at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. Kalee has shown interest in Marine Science and when she's interested in something I like to jump on it. We will definitely be returning for more exploration opportunities. :)

The first lesson for me was realizing that Harbor Seals have no problem sharing "private time" with the public watching. I felt like I didn't belong watching them do their thing but will admit it was rather interesting... and was even more interesting trying to explain it on Kalee's level of understanding.

After all that we went to Chick-Fil-a and got a sample sized shake that reminded me of the normal sized frosty at Wendy's in Japan...and people ask why they are so small. Possibly because they have reasonable portion sizes? (This is also a good shot of my medi-port for those that keep asking and I keep forgetting to take a picture of it. On my right side you can see a little bump under my skin near my dress and an ever so slight line go up towards my jugular area. That is it! I only am hooked up to tubes then I go in for treatment and it's a simple needle poke like when you get your ears pierced.)

As you can see we had a great time at the Aquarium and will be back to explore again soon!

Fun and Smiles

A friend Elizabeth and her two children came over today. My mom called during the visit and acted surprised when I told her someone was here. I laughed and reminded her that I do have friends. :) Elizabeth too lived in Japan (Sasabo) and is visiting family here in route to her husbands next duty station. What a blessing it was to have them over today. Seeing what her and her husband have been through with their youngest son while living overseas has been an inspiration. My long time readers may remember my mention of praying for a fellow Navy family whose newborn son was in an overseas NICU...well, I got to hug Gavin on his 6 month birthday!!!

Cute kiddos huh? We had a blast! So glad she was able to converse so well with my crazy husband too. Crazy married crazy and attracts crazy friends. ;) Thanks Elizabeth for joining in on the laughter and smiles. Exactly what life is about!

Failing Deodorant

Accomplishing a lot around here. From painting ceilings and installing ceiling fans, to simplifying (a nice word for throwing away a bunch of 'stuff') our life, Max is on page 3 of the honey-do list. Hey give me slack here, I'm helping where I can help. Making the list counts right? No really, we are a great team. I tell him where it goes and his muscles put it there. The "I'm a Navy Wife, I can do anything" saying still goes for me but I have recently and only temporally amended it to say "I'm a Navy Wife, I can do anything that doesn't require me to lift or push an excess of 20 pounds...or keep my arms over my head longer than 7 seconds...or do anything outside of showering, eating, using the restroom, or sleeping on days following my non-spa special treatments." Fair enough, Ay?

For some odd reason I feel the need to note my recent decision of abstaining from deodorant. Go ahead, raise an eyebrow. Dodge me when I roll past the pharmacy at Wal-Mart and don't make eye contact with me during "shake and howdy" at church. Deodorant always fails me so I have decided to fail at using it! Only I would voice my opinion about smearing unknown toxins in the pit of me. :) I'm going to invent something that works darn-it! I'm a Navy Wife, I can do anything....as long as I stick to the above stated arms-over-head for less then 7 second rule. Otherwise, I may be passed out and will never be able to patten my new mix of baking soda, corn starch and lavender essential oil deodorant powder. So next time you smell the old lady doused in lavender smell, I'm proll'y not more than an arms length away.

Makes you just want to eat a lavender cookie now, doesn't it!

Kalee's 'hard to swallow-sore throat' complaints are leading her doctor. My children are such great sharers. ;) Just please don't share it with me, this time!

This is about the point of treatment that I'm thrilled with the side effects of the $7K-$10K 'increase the white count' shot. I mean, who wants to feel their bone marrow in overdrive anyway?
